Program Summary
Throughout the year the Department of Parks and Recreation hosts many late-night events for Late Night Hype. This is a Friday evening outdoor carnival-style party in the summer and indoor activities in the winter where DPR brings out mobile recreation at one of the recreation sites including bounce houses, skating/biking, snow cones, popcorn, live music, Esports tournaments, fitness activities, games, artistic expressions, free haircuts and stylists, pool parties, and more.
How does it help?
Late-night recreational operating hours give children, youth, and their families fun activities in the evening and a place to hang out and stay safe. It gives youth a place to build positive relationships and learn teamwork and hobbies instead of being in unsafe areas.

How much is invested?
In fiscal years 2022 and 2023, the District has invested over $700,00 in these activities.

Who uses this program?
Activities are for DC teens, ages 13 - 18. Parents are welcome to accompany their teens.
